I was a former linebacker at Marietta College, where I received a degree in Petroleum Engineering. I was introduced to CrossFit in 2010. The "Filthy Fifty" was my first WOD, and after overcoming the urge to lose my lunch, I knew it was legit. I also enjoy competing and love traveling for competitions.

Since starting CrossFit, I have been in the best shape of my life and have improved on all of my max lifts, to exceed PRs from my peak college football days. In high school I played football, baseball, track and wrestling. I have completed two marathons so far, to include the OKC Vibram Five Fingers (do not try this)! Yes, you will see some high intensity cardiovascular workouts in my programming.

OKC Marathon Finisher: 4:20 (2011)

San Antonio Rock n Roll Marathon Finisher: 3:20 (2013)

Parkersburg Half Marathon fastest finish: 1:32

3x Tuff Mudder Finisher (Virginia, Georgia, Texas)

Before I became a gym owner, I worked as a MWD for Schlumberger. I am originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia. I have a crazy Lab, Huck...and you might see him every now and then hanging out at the gym! I am excited to bring Black Dog CrossFit to Lawton and to be a part of this great community.

Krys Bussell
CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer

I am a level one CrossFit trainer. I spent my years of high school and college running and doing traditional boring lifts, and training my body in sections rather than as a whole. I found CrossFit in 2006  but I only dabbled in it. It wasn't until I started to train at the old CF Havoc that my idea and definition of fitness was redefined and I became obsessed with achieving elite fitness. I started to push myself to limits I never fathomed to be attainable.

Due to the encouragement of Jim Denofa, I got my level one certificate in august of 2009 and immediately started training people at my local CrossFit gym. Being part of the Crossfit community in town has become one of my greatest joys, as well as being my greatest achievement to date. As a trainer I find it greatly rewarding to witness peers strive for optimum fitness, and develop into greater athletes. The skills and camaraderie that individuals develop in the gym overlap in many aspects of their lives, driving them to reach great heights, and I am proud to be a part if it.

I am now a family member of Black Dog and am excited to help usher in a new gym that promises an all-encompassing community full of personal records and athletic transformations. As a personal trainer at Black Dog I get the pleasure of training clients of all ages and ability levels, which is both challenging and rewarding. Helping a client get their first pullup or push up is just as rewarding as witnessing my athlete get their first 500 lb. deadlift. No matter where you are on your journey towards fitness, health, or athletic performance, personalized training will get you there safely and effectively.

As a trainer I rule with an iron fist and ask for your undying devotion in the relentless pursuit of strength. Never falter in your dogmatic devotion to my program, and you will reach a physical excellence that the Hellenistic Gods admired in their fabled heroes of the past. Hercules, Atlas and Achilles will be peons when compared to your feats of strength. I will not let you surrender to your own body's cry for mercy, I will push you to limits that would break even the bravest of men. You will overcome any challenge that stands in your way under my guidance, and reap the benefits of elite training. All those who stand in your way will sulk in fear at your very presence, and those who do not fear you will call you their equal.
